Florida, April 6 – Among the alternatives for the economic and productive recovery of the Argentine Sugar Company (Empresa Agroindustrial Azucarera Argentina) in the municipality of Florida is the rehabilitation and restart of its food processing plant, which has been idle for years.
The semi-rustic facility, where numerous high-demand institutional and consumer products were once manufactured, such as flour-based sweets, fruit preserves in syrup, and sunflower and sesame oils, to name just a few, has remained dormant for approximately ten years, precisely when its production capacity is most needed.
According to public statements by Hibrahim Torres Piñeiro, Head of Investments at the Argentine Agro-Industrial Company, they have already secured financing of over one million pesos from the Azcuba Business Group to advance the repair and commissioning of the small-scale processing plant located on the grounds of this sugar conglomerate.
In addition to generating jobs and relocating the inactive workforce at the Central Argentina sugar mill, the operation of its small food production facility should utilize, as a fundamental raw material, the volumes of leftover and millable sugarcane available at the sector’s production units for the benefit of the people.
