Florida, Jul 8.- Floridian Yarima García Díaz won the gold medal this Thursday at the Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023 as part of the Cuban women’s relay that was crowned in the 4 x 100-meter relay, with record for the competition of 43 seconds and 17 hundredths.
The Floridian sprinter was in charge of covering the third section of the race, and she fulfilled her task well as a member of the quartet from the largest of the Antilles that won the title and improved her own record in Central American events in this event.
Yarima debuted in this type of multi-sport events at the age of 18 and her 69th medal and the 47th title for Florida athletes in the history of the Central American and Caribbean Games from 1962 to date.
In this way, she closes the performance of the Florida athletes who are members of the Cuban delegation in the San Salvador 2023 Central Caribbean Games, with a balance of two gold medals, one silver, one bronze and a fifth place.
The titles were won by shooter Guillermo Pías del Río, in the team modality of the 10-meter air pistol event, and Yarima García Díaz, as part of the Cuban 4 x 100 relay, which was crowned with a record for this event. .
Tennis player Adrián Pérez Niebla won the team silver medal, gladiator Ibrain Torres Espinosa won bronze in the 125-kilogram wrestling division and young Danaylis León Joseph finished fifth with the Cuban rhythmic gymnastics team in these Central American Games.
