Florida, June 26.- The Agustín Farabundo Martí Urban Basic Secondary School (ESBU) hosted the event for the International Day to Combat Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which is celebrated every June 26, this year with the motto Put people first: stop stigma and discrimination, strengthen prevention.

With the presence of José Andrés Vázquez Acevedo, School Health Advisor in the General Directorate of Education, and representatives of mass organizations, the meeting highlighted the importance of the date aimed at reinforcing action and cooperation between countries with in order to move towards a society free from the consumption and illegal trafficking of narcotics.

The Prosalud specialists of the territory explained to students and professors the serious damage caused to the health and well-being of people by drug use, and referred to the efforts that Cuba is making to strengthen international cooperation in the search for solutions through the application and reinforcement of effective measures on the control of addictive substances.

In his speech, Yosvany Mora, health promoter at ESBU Agustín Farabundo Martí, emphasized the need to make students aware of the damage caused by drug use and the actions that educational institutions can take to promote any campaign against this addiction.
