Disaster Risk Reduction Week Begins in Florida (+ Audio)

Florida, May 15.- From this May 15 until the 19th, the Disaster Risk Reduction Week will take place in Florida, conferences where practical activities are projected in organizations, entities and the population in general, to reduce vulnerabilities.

In order to reduce the existing risks in the different environments, associated with hydrometeorological events, the territory’s command management bodies will demonstrate the capabilities to deal with these in each of the planned stages.

During these days, work will also be done on cleaning and sanitizing the municipality, with actions that allow the eradication of foci and breeding sites of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, regarding the beginning of the rainy season, and the participation of the population in sanitary work from their neighborhoods and communities.

According to the schedule, the week for disaster risk reduction, which runs from May 15 to 19 in Florida, will conclude with the development of the Meteoro 2023 Popular Exercise, scheduled for days 20 and 21, to guarantee preparation for the next hurricane season that begins on June 1.
