Florida, May 4.- Commemorating the 150th anniversary of the fall in combat of Major General Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz, generates in the educational sector of Florida, the celebration of a commemorative day until May 11, aimed at commemorating the life of the patriot distinguished from Camagüey.
Various activities are carried out in educational institutions to exalt the worthy example of decorum and shame of Ignacio Agramonte and his impressive record of services to the cause of the freedom and independence of the Homeland.
Special morning sessions, talks, exhibitions, book presentations and contests are part of the tribute of the Floridian students in the different educational centers of the municipality to the extraordinary military chief.
A space is also planned to narrate what happened that fateful day in 1873, in a talk scheduled for Thursday, May 11 at nine in the morning at the Center for Documentation and Pedagogical Information of Florida, with the presence of History teachers, together with his methodologist, the Master in Educational Sciences, Odalys Matamoros.
In the context of the 150th anniversary of the fall in combat of Ignacio Agramonte, «that diamond with the soul of a kiss», as José Martí defined it, the Cuban film El Mayor will be screened in schools, a sublime tribute to one of the essential men of Cuban history.
