Guarantee water supply to the Floridian population priority of the Civil Defense

Florida, May 3.- The situation and guarantees of the water supply to the inhabitants of the municipality of Florida were included among the issues evaluated in the recent visit of the National General Staff of the Civil Defense to the territory, based on its strategic importance and the vulnerabilities, risks and opportunities that this activity faces here today.

When summarizing the current conditions of the reservoir, the Pumping Station and the Caonao conductor, as the main source of water supply to the municipal capital, the Florida government executives insisted on the obsolete impulse machinery and distribution network, a reality that , despite the effort to keep them high, causes constant interruptions in the delivery of liquid to domestic and local socioeconomic consumption.

Faced with the demand for solutions to this threat, managers of Acueducto y Alcantarillado explained that before the end of the current year they plan to repair two kilometers of pipes in the Caonao conductor, including three large-scale leaks that weaken the pressure of the torrent. and stressed that the total rehabilitation of the facility must be completed by 2030.

Regarding the visit of the National General Staff of the Civil Defense to Florida, the news of the possible refinancing and progress of the Cuba-Haiti International Collaboration Project, through which it is proposed to supply drinking water to the main city from the existing underground reserves in the southern town of San Antonio.

When intervening in the analysis of the risks, vulnerabilities and perspectives in the distribution of water to the communities and residential neighborhoods of the municipality of Florida, Brigadier General Heriberto Burgos Ronquillo, head of the Civil Defense directorate in the province of Camagüey, He called to promote the best strategy in search of protecting the reserves and guaranteeing this vital service to all the inhabitants of the region.
