Florida, Apr 12.- The summary of an audit action carried out by the Provincial Comptroller’s Office in the Sorbitol Derivatives Base Business Unit (UEB), in the municipality of Florida, revealed serious violations of internal operation and legal failures that limited, to date, the full development of the productive and labor potentialities of this important manufacturing facility in the territory.
The audit carried out to comply with state and government policy for the operation of entities of this type detected there serious limitations in the assignment of faculties and administrative attributions to the board of directors of Sorbitol by the Empresa Agroindustrial Azucarera Ignacio Agramonte, deficiencies in the organizational structure, weaknesses in the implementation of Internal Control and the non-existence of a Procurement Committee.
Similarly, the compliance evaluation applied to the UEB Derivados del Sorbitol de Florida denounced the lack of registration and monitoring of the implementation of the 43 measures arranged to strengthen the Socialist State Enterprise and consequently alerted about specific errors in legal advice and in the links with the management of its parent company.
Even though none of the statements made by the reviewing body resulted in acts of criminal connotation or acts of administrative corruption, the verification constituted a warning sign on the path taken by the entity towards the growth and diversification of its productions.
During the discussion of the final audit report with directors and workers of the Sorbitol Plant in Florida, Miguel Catalá Borges, the head of the Camagüey Provincial Comptroller’s Office, insisted on the urgency of solving the causes and subjective conditions that led to the violations and errors detected in the management of said industry, taking into account the prestige and growth capacities exhibited by this group in recent years.
