Florida ended the year with an unfavorable infant mortality rate

Florida, November 7 – The municipality of Florida ended 2025 with an infant mortality rate of 17.5 per 1,000 live births, a figure higher than the previous year’s results.

During this period, a total of 342 births were registered, along with the deaths of six infants before their first birthday.

Although these figures do not reflect the efforts made throughout the year, the municipality’s Maternal and Child Health Program (PAMI) received full political and governmental support, despite resource shortages and difficulties caused by the United States blockade against the Cuban people, the lack of personnel in health institutions, and families’ lack of adherence to proper prenatal and newborn care.

Along with the call to do more and better in the new stage, the General Directorate of Public Health of Florida recognized and thanked the performance of its entities and staff linked to PAMI for the commitment materialized here during 2025, as well as the organizations and actors that supported its work in defense of the survival and quality of life of the mother and the baby.
