Schedule activities in Florida in tribute to the Naborí Indian

Florida, 10 Sep.- School libraries in Florida are organizing a day of homage to the poet Jesús Orta Ruiz, known as El Indio Naborí, on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of his birth.

The activity will begin on Friday, September 12 with the promotion of his book Estampas y Elegías, a fundamental work that reflects the depth of his poetry and his connection to Cuban cultural roots, in an event that seeks to highlight the literary and human merits of one of Cuba’s most significant poets, whose work elevated the tenth to a superior aesthetic category, merging the popular and the cult.

The day is part of efforts to encourage interest in literature among students, in line with the National Reading Program, with activities that will last until September 30, which coincides with the birth of El Indio Naborí, and will take place at various educational institutions in the territory, with the support of the Centre for Documentation and Pedagogical Information (CDIP).

The activities planned include literary talks, poetry recitals, conversations and the promotion of his works, all designed to bring students and teachers closer to the life and legacy of this intellectual born in 1922 in San Miguel del Padrón, Havana, and died in 2005.

This day of homage celebrates the life and work of El Indio Naborí and strengthens the link between culture and education in the municipality Florida; by integrating literary activities in education institutions, School librarians promote a critical and emotional approach to Cuban literature and encourage interest in books and reading.

The choice of Prints and Elegies as a starting point symbolizes the relevance of his work to understanding Cuban history and values to ensure that his legacy continues to inspire new generations.
