Florida, July 30.- The José Luis Tassende de las Muñecas School, under the exemplary leadership of Odalys Zulueta Nocedo, closed the 2024-2025 school year with outstanding achievements at the municipal level and established itself as a benchmark in special education.
This group, recognized for its commitment and sensitivity, was the protagonist of important educational and community events, such as the municipal event of the Student Work Brigades (BET), where social and productive work was promoted for the benefit of the community. It also served as the venue for the ceremony commemorating the 63rd anniversary of Special Education in Cuba.
Among the individual recognitions given to the school, the distinctions awarded to exemplary teachers stand out, such as Eleodoro Carvajal García, awarded the Juan Tomás Roig Distinction; Marilú Quirós Crespo, recipient of the Rafael María de Mendive Medal; and Merlin González Hernández, who was named the outstanding teacher at the municipal level.
These awards reflect the pedagogical excellence and social impact of a dedicated team that prioritizes equity and the holistic development of its students, and consolidates its central role in inclusive education and honors historical values.
The José Luis Tassende de las Muñecas Special School features unique spaces such as the early stimulation classroom and the Pequeño Sol playhouse, designed to foster learning and socialization in adapted environments.
Its methodology focuses on cognitive-communicative approaches and the use of technology, achieving significant progress in students’ language and social integration. Furthermore, its school garden, where medicinal plants and food are grown, has been the setting for practical activities that foster autonomy and connection with nature.
As a resource and support center for special education, the institution stands out for its academic results and its preventive and community work. Their anthem, inspired by the legacy of the martyr José Luis Tassende, symbolizes the spirit of achievement that guides students and teachers in the implementation of inclusion policies, demonstrating that, despite material limitations, human and pedagogical will can transform lives.
