Florida, May 9 – With the screening this week of the Cuban film El Mayor in educational institutions, began the commemorative day that the Municipal Directorate of Education in Florida has organized as a tribute to the Camagüey patriot Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz on the 152nd anniversary of his fall in combat on May 11, 1873 in the fields of Jimaguayú.
Passages of the exemplary life of “that diamond with the soul of a kiss” will be heard in these days of May in the schools of the territory in the voices of professors, teachers and students who will delve into the military career of Agramonte and the relationship with his wife, Amalia Simoni.
Special matinees, lectures, informative panels and exhibitions, are proposals to be developed in schools to extol the legendary figure of El Mayor.
In accordance with the date, the school librarians of the Higher Secondary Education will meet on May 9 in their methodological meeting and will remember the distinguished patriot from Camagüey with the promotion of books and magazines with anecdotes and aspects of interest related to the extraordinary military leader.
