Florida, Apr. 14 – The Heritage of Florida was talked about this Thursday in the encounter with history organized and celebrated by the Municipal Museum in the educational institution of the primary level José Martí Pérez.
The action dedicated to the International Day of Monuments and Sites counted on the oratory of the researcher Margarita Fernández Cervantes, director of the Municipal Museum, who talked with the students about the patrimonial sites of the territory and its history.
The also museologist and member of the Union of Historians of Cuba made reference to the barracks of the Captaincy Alejandro Rodríguez Velazco, first in the province converted into a school center, on November 22, 1959 and later declared Local Monument by the National Commission of Monuments on October 14, 2014.
The International Day for Monuments and Sites was established in 1983 to raise awareness of the richness and variety of historical heritage and to promote awareness of the cultural diversity of humanity and the efforts required for its protection and conservation.
