Florida, April 2 – Teachers and students of the different educational levels in Florida increase training and preparation, together with other activities to contribute to prevent the consumption of drugs, psychotropic drugs and substances with similar effects, as a result of the Strategic Exercise that was developed throughout the country and also reached the educational sector.
The actions are aimed at reinforcing, from the school and community, the mechanisms of prevention, promotion and education for health, related to the subject of addictions; educational talks, special matinees and lectures on the abuse of these substances are carried out in the Floridian schools.
A talk to fifth, sixth and seventh grade students, given by Odalys Ortiz Freyre, a nursing graduate, was held at the José Luis Tassende de las Muñecas Special School, an appropriate occasion to discuss the documentary “ Drogas: tipos y clasificación” (“Drugs: types and classification”).
The viewing of audiovisual materials to counteract this addiction was well received by the students, who had the opportunity to analyze, discuss and give their opinions on what they had seen. Also of interest were the drawing contests and the cultural festivals in which different artistic expressions were used to denounce this scourge.
