Florida, Mar. 27 – Under the premise of «Achieving social inclusion and accessibility to all services and environments», the members of the National Association of the Blind of Cuba (ANCI) in the municipality of Florida held their general assembly in which they assessed the work carried out in the year 2024.
During the process, the organization’s achievements were discussed, but also the institution’s deficiencies from its base, such as, for example, the need to repair the headquarters, the existing problems with architectural barriers and the situation with the ATMs to cash their checkbooks.
At the meeting, several recognitions were given to the institutions of the territory that, in one way or another, support the progress and development of ANCI, among them, the National Institute of Sports and Recreation (INDER), the Culture Sector, the leadership of the Party, the Government and the Labor and Social Security Organ.
Among the objectives to be achieved by the members of ANCI for the current year are to maintain the improvement of the cadres and representatives of the grassroots groups as established in the statutes and regulations, coordinate with the Directorate of Prevention, Attention and Social Security to give priority to members in the proposal and approval of subsidies, strengthen the work of INDER-ANCI with a view to increasing the participation of young people and women in sports activities.
Likewise, it is intended to attract more blind and low vision people to join the association, and to add new fans to the music and theater groups.
The National Association of the Blind in the municipality of Florida has a total of 141 associates, who work to maintain unity among all of them and their insertion into society with equal rights and opportunities.
