Florida, Mar. 17 – The delegation of the municipality that will participate in the sessions of the Provincial Assembly of the XIII Congress of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP), scheduled to be held on March 18, 19 and 20 in the city of Camagüey, is made up of 27 delegates and four guests from the peasant sector.
Among the main topics to be discussed in the agenda of the event are the internal life of the agrarian organization and the fight against crime, corruption and illegalities in the area of action of small farmers.
According to information provided by Nayuris Garbizo Matamoros, president of the Municipal Bureau of ANAP in Florida, the program of the XIII Peasant Congress in the province includes delegates’ tours of organizations and entities linked to or benefiting from the performance of rural men and women, and meetings with other economic and social actors, prior to the election and plenary sessions scheduled for March 19 and March 2O respectively.
The small farmers of the territory will arrive at the maximum event of the peasantry in Camagüey under the commitment to offer greater answers in their productive tasks; to strengthen the role of the Board of Directors and the General Assembly of the cooperatives, executive body and governing body of the daily work in each case; as well as to promote the participation of young people and the use of science and agro-ecology in obtaining better results.
More than 70 percent of the agricultural and livestock potential of the municipality of Florida is concentrated today in the hands of the peasant sector, which constitutes an unavoidable responsibility within the programs of local development and Food and Nutritional Sovereignty and Security for the population of the territory.
