Camagüey governor demands better control of Florida’s economic indicators

Florida, Jan. 30 – In the presence of the First Secretary of the Communist Party in the province, Federico Hernández Hernández, the governor of Camagüey, Luis Enrique Sutil Sarabia, analyzed in Florida factors that threaten the socioeconomic development and quality of services in this municipality and demanded better control of the local economy.

As part of his analysis, Sutil Sarabia called for efficiency in the functioning of the Banking Commission, to increase the control over the production and commercialization of food and to take care of the efficiency in the process of approval and implementation of the Local Development Projects.

Referring to the importance of capturing income through the banking system to guarantee liquidity in ATMs and other payments, the highest representative of the State in the province of Camagüey denounced violations that threaten this purpose.

And he exemplified with convincing data by saying that, for example, of the 16 MSMEs existing in the municipality, only seven made deposits to the Bank on a regular basis, while of the more than 1,000 self-employed workers obliged to comply with this activity here, only 13 percent of them did so.

“To the economic, commercial and financial war imposed by the U.S. government on Cuba, some want to add the lack of control, tolerance and impunity, but we have to be able to face them and ensure that food and other basic services reach the people as planned,” said the Camagüey governor in the municipality of Florida.
