Florida, Jan. 29 – The Floridian night was illuminated with the light of the Marti flame that traveled through the main arteries of the city, on the eve of January 28, the 172nd anniversary of the birth of the most universal of Cubans, José Martí Pérez, as a sign that his ideas are still alive and are a symbol of resistance and hope for the inhabitants of this Antillean archipelago.
Adolescents, young students and workers together with the highest authorities of the territory and the people in general, starred in the tribute that concluded in front of the stage located on Paseo de Martí Street, where the new generations ratified their commitment to be worthy continuers of the ideology of the Apostle of the patriotic independence.
During the ceremony, art instructors and local artists dedicated a cultural moment to the Master and the closing was in charge of the conga «Yunay y sus Bongos» whose rhythm added a greater number of participants to the tribute dedicated to José Martí on his birthday.
The commemorative activities for the 172nd birthday of Cuba’s National Hero continued on the morning of January 28 with the Marti Pioneer Parade, an event in which dwarf princes and princesses, inspired by the characters of José Martí’s literary creations, walk through the streets of the country celebrating the life and work of La Edad de Oro, the best friend of the children of America.
