Floridian cooperatives get ready for the start of the harvest (+Post)

Florida, Jan. 22 – Representatives of the Communist Party and the Government in Florida visit Agricultural Production Cooperatives (CPA) to learn about the preparations for the sugarcane harvest.

The mechanized platoon for sugarcane cutting at CPA Abel Santamaría Cuadrado, in the municipality of Florida, will face the current harvest with the mission of harvesting more than eight thousand tons of sugarcane in the entity’s fields, and provide this type of service in other units of Empresa Agroindustrial Azucarera Argentina.

“You have the obligation to fulfill and carry out an efficient campaign due to the prestige achieved in years of work, both in the sugarcane tasks and in other socioeconomic tasks of the territory” said the mayor of Florida Ormandys Rodríguez Sánchez, during an exchange with the referred collective, which took place this Friday in the premises of the CPA.

Eliecer Gómez Lafita, president of the productive base, said that they will have the mission of contributing, each day, 80 tons of sugar cane to the cleaning center of La China, and for this purpose they have two KTP DOS harvesters and four trucks with their respective trailers.

“It only remains for the fuel and lubricants to arrive for the start-up of the equipment”, expressed the maximum representative of the farmer cooperative Abel Santamaría, from Florida, and ratified the commitment of his people to remain there at the foot of the furrow until harvesting all the sugarcane foreseen in the 2025 harvest campaign.

In the continuity of the meetings with men and women of the sugarcane harvest in this Camagüey demarcation, the Party leadership and the local government executive also went to the CPA Mártires de Granada, a sugarcane entity of the farmer sector that bets on overcoming the poor results of the previous campaign.

“The commitment of the Mártires de Granada is to send to the industry 3,700 tons of sugar cane for the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes sugar mill,” said Oscar Gutiérrez Blanco, the cooperative’s highest representative, and highlighted the guarantees of equipment, food and human disposition to achieve it.

In the two entities visited by the representatives of the Party’s Bureau and the head of the Government in Florida, to learn about the preparations to start the harvest, attention was drawn to the dangers of occurrence of sugarcane fires in the middle of the harvest, the ways to prevent them and the importance of adopting all possible measures to avoid them.
