Florida, Jan. 11 – Some 620 people with low economic solvency benefit in the municipality of Florida from the service offered in the establishments of the Family Assistance System (SAF), spread throughout all the Popular Councils of the territory.
This program was designed to provide food for the elderly, the handicapped or those who receive low remuneration, and is supported by the Basic Business Units of Commerce and Gastronomy, with the supervision and control of the State.
In the midst of the current economic crisis in the country, the establishments linked to the Family Care System continue to operate with the support and collaboration of local entities and organizations, peasant cooperatives and the self-management of the governing units in charge of supplying food.
An example of the work carried out by these centers can be seen in the Mercadito Ibarra, located in the Microdistrict of Florida, an entity that provides food to 131 people living in that area of the city, as reported by journalist Ailen Vargas Abella in the following report.
