Florida, Jan. 10 – A social prevention action that benefited individuals with wandering behavior was carried out at the headquarters of the municipal branch of the Red Cross in Florida, where social workers of the Centro Urbanos people’s council carried out sanitation and physical care activities for these people.
The event, promoted by the Municipal Directorate of Labor and Social Security, with the support of government structures and other institutions and economic actors, provided free barber services, change of clothes and food to more than a dozen Floridians who, for various reasons, are reluctant to remain under the protection of their families or the state entities that provide shelter and protection to the homeless.
Most of the members of this vulnerable group have psychiatric and psychological damage or behavioral disorders caused by alcoholism and other addictions, which makes it extremely difficult to rehabilitate them and change their lifestyles.
The preventive action carried out by the social workers of the Centro Urbano de Florida popular council for the benefit of people with wandering behavior in the municipal capital city, reaffirmed the socialist principle of not leaving anyone helpless, and was based on the Fidelista concept that “Revolution is (also) to be treated, and to treat others, as human beings”.
