Florida, Dec. 12 – Sugarcane growers in the municipality of Florida are keeping their eyes focused on the gigantic challenges they must overcome to save this important agribusiness of the Cuban economy.
Among the pending tasks for that guild, present in the entire Florida geography, stand out those of increasing sugarcane sowing for the harvest; stopping the exodus and recovering the technical and labor force of the sector.
In addition, with equal priority, the demands to strengthen the policy of cadres and the internal functioning of the base units, diversify production, improve the provision of services to third parties to increase income collection, together with the application of the rest of the 93 measures approved by the Cuban government for the sugarcane sector.
With 13 sugarcane cooperatives, two companies and several establishments linked to the sugar union, the municipality of Florida has enough reasons to reflect on the need to recover this front in the economic battle for food security and sovereignty of the territory and the country.
