Floridians Commemorate 35th Anniversary of Operation Tribute (+Posts)

Floridians
Florida, Dec. 9 – The five kilometers of streets that separate the Luis Casas Romero Municipal House of Culture from the Pantheon of the Fallen for the Defense, located in the necropolis of Florida, were covered with glory once again this December 7 with the passage of the popular pilgrimage that commemorated the 35th anniversary of Operation Tribute.

In a mourning ceremony, the relatives of the combatants who offered their lives in internationalist missions in African nations, the highest authorities of the Party and the Government and the political, civil and mass organizations, on behalf of all the people, laid flowers of remembrance on the tombs of the martyrs of that deed and those of other fighters for the independence of Cuba and other lands of the world.

Minutes before, different traditional actions of remembrance were carried out, including the ceremony of the beginning of the caravan in the House of Culture, place where the remains of the internationalist fighters exhumed in Africa, in what was then the first phase of the Tribute Operation, were received and honored on December 7, 1989.

To the bust of the Bronze Titan, Antonio Maceo Grajales, located in the José Martí Park, Floridians also arrived on this day to thank his example and that of his assistant Panchito Gómez Toro, on the occasion of the 128th anniversary of the death in combat of both champions of the Mambo heroic deeds of the 19th century.

At the end of the pilgrimage that reached the Pantheon of the Fallen for the Defense, the central act of the municipality of Florida took place for the 35th anniversary of Operation Tribute, which served as a framework for the delivery of the membership card to a group of new members of the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution and militants of the Communist Party of Cuba.

Once again, the day of the seventh day of December became a demonstration of commitment to the internationalist and revolutionary history of the Cuban people and of respect for the heroes and martyrs of the sacred homeland.
