Florida, Oct. 2 – Among the Camagüey municipalities with the highest incidence rate of dengue fever, Florida is currently in third place, but it is the territory that most worries the Provincial Health Sector Direction due to the number of its population and the grade of dispersion of the cases confirmed in the last weeks.
This was reported at the meeting of the Working Group of the Government of Florida to face the current situation, Dr. Iluminada Menéndez, director of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology in the Agramontina province, when evaluated that in this municipality during the last seven days 48 citizens were confirmed with dengue and the transmission rate is growing, despite the fact that the number of tests performed is still insufficient in relation to the number of febrile patients.
This situation requires in Florida, from this week, to intensify epidemiological surveillance and the antivectorial campaign in blocks and neighborhoods with sanitary risks to counteract the presence of the aedes aegypti mosquito and immediately cut off possible transmission events of the dangerous disease.
As detailed in this governmental analysis, reinforcements will arrive from the province to increase the sanitary response capacity in the Floridan municipality, in view of the need to improve the focal treatment to reduce the possibilities of mosquito reproduction and with them the epidemiological risks, in a clear action to preserve the health of the people.
In its most recent meeting, the Government Working Group in Florida, chaired by the local authorities, analyzed other topics of great interest, such as the responsibility to ensure the quality of the products offered to the population, with emphasis on the priority of complying with the standards established for the preparation of the bread of the regulated family basket, even though the current limitations with electricity complicate this process.
In this meeting, it was also informed that in the middle of the current contingency, people also have the option of managing through their neighborhood delegate the access to food offers elaborated in the gastronomic units as an alternative in these moments in which it is not always possible to have electricity service to ensure the cooking of food at home.
