September 2024.- The Aurora Cinema in Florida, known as “the Seventh Art theater with a woman’s name,” was founded on December 15, 1942 by Dr. Gilberto Carrillo in honor of his wife, Aurora.
In 1956, it was remodeled to offer a luxurious and comfortable space, including air conditioning and showing mainly Mexican and Spanish films. It is located on Calixto García Street, between Maceo and Carretera Central streets. Its hours are from eight a.m. to nine p.m. from Tuesday to Sunday, with film proposals for all audiences.
During the week, the institution carries out educational activities with primary and secondary schools, promoting debates on films related to the history of Cuba.
While on weekends it offers children’s shows, youth matinees and a program for adults starting at five in the afternoon where various genres of films are offered.
The institution carries out activities with the priority programs «A Bolero for My Grandparents» with the elderly of the grandparents’ circles and «Love for Life» with the HIV STI program in the territory.
