Florida, Sep. 6 – First year students of Manuel Rivero Gómez de Avellaneda Polytechnic Institute of Economics made a guided visit to the Municipal Museum of Florida as part of the agreements between both institutions to deepen their knowledge of local history, one of the objectives included in the teaching programs of the current school year.
The students appreciated La aurora, a painting of urban architecture composed of 26 pieces made by the Floridian sculptor Agustín Hernández Carlos, who graduated in Plastic Arts in Camagüey in 1999, and professor of Sculpture at the National Academy of Fine Arts of San Alejandro with a recognized artistic work in Cuba and abroad.
Museologist and researcher Margarita Fernandez Cervantes offered a broad explanation of the pieces treasured in the Municipal Museum and invited the young people to a tour of the eight exhibition halls of the institution, favored since 2018 with a novel museographic installation.
For the current school term, the specialists of Floridan Museum programmed several activities coordinated with the General Directorate of Education in salute to Florida’s centennial, including cultural visits to the institution and talks on local heritage and history.
