Florida, Sep. 2 – The current electrical energy situation in Florida calls for an increase in energy saving measures in state and private institutions and in the residential sector, with the objective of achieving a greater response to the demand for this essential resource for the development of the socioeconomic activities of the municipality and the country.
“Even though the call for the rational use of energy seems a paradox in the midst of the current generation deficit, it is essential if we take into account that a high percentage of the fuel available in the country is used to produce electricity, to the detriment of other vital needs of the economy and services,” said Beatriz Rodríguez Fernández, coordinator of Energy Programs in the provincial government of Camagüey.
“The call for savings is not a whim, it is a strategy to support the daily efforts of the Electrical Union to maintain the thermal power plants at a high level; and of the Cuban State in the purchase of fuels at high prices, facing the measures, traps and limitations imposed by the iron blockade of the US government against the Cuban people”.
“These and other details should be known by the people, workers and communities to raise awareness on the efficient use of electricity,” concluded in Florida the coordinator of Energy Programs in the provincial government, and for this she requested the support of the Cuban Workers’ Central, the rest of the mass organizations and social, institutional and community communication in neighborhoods and workplaces.
The directive pointed out that the control of the Administration Council and the structures of the People’s Power over the use of the fuel assigned to the municipality, to confront the theft and diversion of this basic resource, and to adopt impact measures against fraud in the consumption of electric energy are priorities to be maintained in the territory.
