Florida, Aug. 27 – This August 27, the municipality of Florida will be a sub-host of the International Timbalaye Festival: La Ruta de la Rumba, which is being held in Cuba until August 31.
The cultural program of the day includes the Floridian conga Yunay and his Bongos, who will sweep with their drums from La Ceiba de Mayuya to the José Martí Park.
The event is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. and will also include the presentation of the Rumbalaroye rumba group, along with other proposals to be held in the city’s central park to highlight the values of the African legacy in the Cuban nation.
The International Festival Timbalaye2024: La Ruta de la Rumba is sponsored by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and is dedicated this year to the 30th anniversary of the Routes of the Enslaved People Program, and the cultural and religious richness brought by slaves from Africa, which transcend as heritage of the Cuban nation.
