Florida, Aug. 21 – The public recognition to the emancipation of women in Florida is also manifested in the election of delegates to represent the community interests in the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power (AMPP), in which the female presence grew during the current XVIII period of the Government’s mandate.
At present, 37 women assume the responsibility of constituency delegates in this demarcation, a figure that represents 46 percent of the total number of leaders elected by the people to integrate the highest governing body in the territory, with a growth of more than 10 percentage points compared to the previous mandate.
In Florida, moreover, for the third consecutive term of office, it is a woman who holds the presidency of the AMPP, which is another sign of confidence in the growing role of women in our society, a conquest of the Cuban Socialist Revolution in defense of equal rights for all.
In the current legislature of the National Assembly of People’s Power, the presence of women exceeds 55 percent of the total number of deputies, a growing numerical trend that makes the Cuban Parliament the one with the second largest number of women in the world.
