Florida, July 18 – Officials and experts from the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Cuba, made a working visit to the municipality of Florida, with the objective of training capacities at the local level for the management of external resources in the operations of Foreign Trade, Foreign Investment and International Cooperation, in order to ensure compliance with the economic and social development plan.
This is a national pilot program to be implemented in 25 municipalities of the country, through which it will be sought, at the territorial level, to increase the vocation to produce to replace imports and export, in line with the needs of food sovereignty and municipal economic autonomy.
In this training program of the Ministry of Foreign Trade in Florida, political and governmental authorities, producers and administrators of agricultural units, the food industry and the budget sector, as well as representatives of Local Development Projects and micro and small private enterprises in the municipality are participating.
In Florida there are currently 8 consolidated exportable lines of business and 14 products are promoted for export, which is still considered insufficient in view of the need to earn foreign currency to achieve economic autonomy and provide resources to the local government to solve social problems and make further progress in the territorial development plan.
Officials and experts from the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Trade insist on the need to strengthen management capacities at the municipal level to design and promote productive and service projects for export, foreign investment and international cooperation.
