Florida Agrometeorological Station adjusts surveillance system for new cyclonic season

Florida, May 13th. – on the eve of the start of a new cyclone season on 1 June, the measuring instruments of the Agrometeorological Station of the municipality of Florida received a technical review and maintenance adjustments by a group of specialists of the Provincial Meteorological Center of Camagüey.

Since mid-November of last year the aforementioned floridana station was equipped with a new technology that allows to automate and increase the accuracy of measurements of wind, temperatures, radiation and rainfall, which is a strength for the disaster early warning and monitoring system.

As highlighted by Ibrianny Arredondo Arencibia, in the framework of this visit of specialists from the Provincial Meteorological Center, the collective of the Agrometeorological Station of Florida took the opportunity to symbolically say goodbye with acknowledgments to two of their partners, Migdalia Angulo and Irayza Montalván, who retire after 40 and 34 years of work, respectively.

It is expected that the cyclone season of the current year will be very active, the danger of Cuba being affected by at least one hurricane is 80 percent probable, here the importance of adjusting all measuring instruments to inform the population in time and to take timely measures to minimize the impact.
