Florida’s educational sector pays tribute to Cuba’s National Hero

Florida, May 4 – On the 129th anniversary of the fall in combat of José Martí, Cuba’s National Hero, the General Directorate of Education in Florida will develop a day of activities to pay tribute to the man who is recognized as the most universal of Cubans.

Educational institutions of all levels of education will host several actions in tribute to the author of The Golden Age, one of the most important figures of political, literary and independence thinking of the 19th century in Latin America.

During the month, children, young people and adolescents will be the protagonists of special morning classes, knowledge meetings, lectures on Marti’s thought and plastic arts exhibitions to pay tribute to the creator of the Cuban Revolutionary Party.

There will also be informative panels, a screening of the film Martí, el ojo del canario, by Cuban filmmaker Fernando Pérez, and a meeting of scientific societies to study the life and work of the author of Ismaelillo.

Literary talks, promotion of Martí’s works and the contest at the grassroots level Martí among us are other proposals scheduled to honor the author of the Versos Sencillos, which will be joined by the conference Martí’s Anti-imperialism, on May 17 at the municipal meeting of school libraries that takes place at the Center for Documentation and Pedagogical Information.

For their part, the children of early childhood who attend the three children’s circles of the municipality, will dedicate songs and poems to the man of the Golden Age in the activities that these institutions are preparing for the anniversary.
