Florida, April 24 – Neither the fires, nor the current shortages, nor the challenges of the future will be able to bend the will to fight, move forward and win, shown by the farmers’ collective of the Agricultural Production Cooperative (CPA) Mártires de Granada, in the municipality of Florida, during the Assembly for the Election and Strengthening of theDirective Board of that sugar cane entity.
With the presence of Regla Gricel Frómeta Rivera, provincial president of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP), and accompanied by representatives of the Municipal Bureau of the Communist Party and the highest farmer leadership of the territory, the associates of the referred entity elected the five members of its board of directors, at the head of which the cooperativist Oscar Gutiérrez Blanco was ratified.
National Vanguard in 2023, the Mártires de Granada cooperative faced this year the most complex harvest of the last five years, due to the poor results in the cutting and sale of sugarcane, due to external causes; and the loss of thousands of tons of sugarcane affected by unforeseen fires.
To face this reality, both the newly electedDirective Board and the rest of the CPA associates demanded unity, support from the government structures of the municipality and the sugar sector, total dedication and a lot of confidence to overcome the current contingencies and move forward «with everyone and for the good of all».
