Floridian wrestler wins bronze medal at Pan American Wrestling Championships (+Photo)

Florida, Feb. 27 – Floridian Ibrain Torres Espinoza won one of the two bronze medals in the 125 kilograms freestyle division at the Pan American Wrestling Championship, held in the Mexican city of Acapulco.

In his first bout, the 27-year-old gladiator advanced over the Costa Rican Lacey Maxwell, then gave way in a close fight during his second outing, but his victimizer on this occasion, the Puerto Rican Jonovan Darius Smith, reached the final and dragged him to the discussion of the bronze, instance in which he won due to the no-show of the Honduran Gino Avila, who claimed to have physical problems.

Many of the fights, especially in the freestyle of this Pan American wrestling tournament, were decided by no-shows and withdrawals from the mat due to injuries or physical discomfort considered by the specialists as strategies of the coaches to preserve their pupils for the next pre-Olympic event, which will also take place in the Mexican city of Acapulco from February 28 to March 1.

Floridian gladiator Ibrain Torres Espinosa will also participate in this Pre-Olympic Wrestling Tournament in search of a ticket to Paris 2024, for which he must reach at least the final of his 125 kilogram freestyle division.
