Florida, Dec. 6.- This December 7, the people of Florida will pay a new tribute to the internationalist combatants who fell in the line of duty, when Operation Tribute is reissued on its 34th anniversary.
The commemoration will resume the actions carried out on the same date in 1989, a historic day in which the mortal remains of fellow Floridians who gave their lives in defense of the freedom of the people of Africa were received, honored and buried here.
As is traditional, the new edition of Operation Tribute includes the exchange of the highest authorities of the Communist Party and the Government with the relatives, the tribute to the Bronze Titan, Antonio Maceo Grajales, in the José Martí park, and the transfer by caravan towards the Pantheon of the Fallen for Defense, in the Florida Necropolis, where the central event for the anniversary will take place.
In each of the moments of the pilgrimage to the Florida cemetery, the respectful greeting of the new generations will be present, represented by pioneers and adolescents from various educational centers in the territory.
In its genesis, Operation Tribute constituted the confirmation of the word pledged by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Raúl Castro Ruz, who assured «From Angola we will only take with us the endearing friendship that unites us to that heroic nation, the gratitude of its people and “the mortal remains of dear brothers who fell in the line of duty.”
