Florida, Dec. 2.- In a new day of activities, as part of the Equal Opportunities Week that takes place from November 27 to December 3, representatives of the associations of the disabled in Florida visited several institutions in the territory.
Due to the constant link with the actions of the national associations of the blind and visually impaired, the physically impaired and the deaf and hard of hearing, the tour began at the municipal headquarters of the Communist Party of Cuba, where they exchanged with their workers about the various actions they carry out. in this Equalization Week, as well as the support received by that organization for people living with disabilities.
The tour then took them to the Florida Municipal Museum, whose group organized a tour of the rooms to observe the samples they treasure in their collections; They then participated in the flag-waving of the delegation that will participate in the provincial assembly of the Federation of Cuban Women, held in José Martí Park.
The day of activities closed with the development of the literary group Letras Sin Barreras, which met this time at the headquarters of the disabled associations, with the presence of renowned local writers, and the virtual participation of the Camagüey poet Jesús Aismar Zamora, who shared with the attendees at the meeting several of his poems.
In 1992, December 3 was declared by the United Nations General Assembly as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities; Since then, the date has been used to promote their rights and well-being in different areas of society.
