Educational Day for World Food Day began in Florida

Florida, October 17.- Presided over by the motto “Water is life. Water nourishes. «Leaving no one behind,» the Educational Day for World Food Day began in Florida’s educational sector with a varied program of actions that will take place in all schools in the territory until October 20.

As detailed by José Andrés Vázquez Acevedo, School Health advisor in the general directorate of Education, the day also opts for healthy eating, and will recognize farmers from farms and school gardens, dietitians, cooks from student centers, teachers and especially to the students and thus make visible the experiences related to a nutritional culture from the school itself to the family environment.

The holding of workshops, plastic arts exhibitions, educational talks and book presentations, along with developer classes with the use of audiovisual products and computer resources, based on food and nutritional education, are some of the activities planned for this day that will culminate on October 20, at nine in the morning, at the Center for Documentation and Pedagogical Information (CDIP).

Every October 16, since 1979, World Food Day is commemorated, a celebration promoted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), with the clear objective of reducing hunger in the world.
