Florida, November 21 – Amid the complex epidemiological situation facing the municipality of Florida, marked by an increase in dengue and chikungunya cases, the Community Services sector is reinforcing its role in prevention and environmental sanitation efforts.
Yosvany Quiñones Beltrán, director of the Community Services Business Unit (UEB), explained that intensive actions are currently underway to improve the area’s hygiene and sanitation, with an emphasis on waste collection, the elimination of illegal dumpsites, and the sanitation of areas considered high-risk.
The director stressed that, given the current situation, the cooperation of the population is essential to keep yards and surrounding areas free of mosquito breeding grounds, and underlined that without the active participation of the community, institutional efforts are insufficient.
Quiñones also reported that the UEB has 20 positions available for cart drivers for those who wish to join the workforce and contribute to the cleaning and sanitation of the area.
The statements from the Director of Community Services reflect that although Florida is experiencing a complex health and hygiene situation, systematic work is being carried out on cleaning, sanitation, and the reduction of environmental risks—essential elements in combating dengue, chikungunya, and other arboviruses.
