Chance made June 14 coincide with the birth dates of two men who at key moments in Cuban history led invading columns to extend the revolutionary war; But more than this event, Major General Antonio Maceo Grajales and Commander Ernesto Guevara de la Serna equaled the community of principles and the exemplary manner with which they assumed the office of man of which Martí spoke.

Master in the use of military tactics and with unlimited courage, Antonio Maceo, who was born in 1845 in Santiago de Cuba, became Lieutenant General of the Liberation Army and due to his combative trajectory generation after generation, he is identified as the Bronze Titan .

By not accepting the peace with unworthy conditions proposed by Spanish colonialism, his Protest of Baraguá made him a symbol of the revolutionary intransigence of the Cubans, but of him we also have a political ideology that transcends the national to project itself in favor of Latin American independence. and against the imperialist appetite for the peoples of the region; That is why José Martí said that: «You have to put a matter to what he says, because Maceo has as much strength in his mind as in his arm.»
