Productive rhythm is maintained in farms and school gardens

Florida, June 4 – Complying with the hygienic measures established to prevent the spread of COVID-19 on farms and orchards belonging to the Education sector in Florida, work is being maintained to advance the Food Sovereignty Program.

Encouraging the existing plantings in these plots, including banana, cassava, sweet potato, vegetables and condiments, as well as promoting the planting of fruit trees and protein plants for animal feed remain among the priorities of this stage.

Making the most of all arable areas and maintaining a close link with other producing entities in the municipality, such as agricultural and sugar companies, is part of the actions planned to extend this food program to all educational institutions in the territory.

With the intention of guaranteeing food in school canteens once the teaching process has been restarted, the farms and orchards belonging to the Education sector in Florida are working despite the current epidemiological situation the territory is getting through.
