Drug prevention activity at Florida school

Florida, December 18 – Yuliet Ferrás Bruzón, Methodologist for Preventive Work at the Provincial Directorate of Education in Camagüey, conducted a supervisory and support visit to the José Martí Junior High School in Florida. This activity was part of the third week dedicated to combating drugs and illegal activities, a national initiative to strengthen students’ comprehensive education and values.

The day began in the morning with the «Let’s Play» program, aimed at seventh and eighth grade students. Through a playful and interactive format, questions were posed to promote discussion about the risks and consequences of substance abuse, fostering critical thinking among the adolescents. Later, the students took on a leading role in raising awareness about the issue. Seventh-grade students gave an educational presentation, demonstrating their comprehension and communication skills, while eighth-grade students presented a dramatization that artistically illustrated the dangers associated with drugs.

The event was attended by representatives from key institutions such as the Camagüey Provincial Prosecutor’s Office, the Municipal Sports Department, and child welfare specialists, enriching the multisectoral approach to prevention.

At the conclusion of the visit, methodologist Yuliet Ferrás described the results as excellent and satisfactory, highlighting the high level of knowledge, commitment, and active participation demonstrated by the students, which reflects the effectiveness of the educational and preventative work being carried out at the school.
