Florida, 26 Aug. – The house of the Trova Tradicional Pedro Loforte Sablón paid tribute this Saturday to the Florida musician Nicolás González on the ninth anniversary of his death, coinciding with the celebration of the birth of the legendary Benny Moré, in an event that brought together amateur artists, musicians from the Municipal Band and members of the local cultural community.
The tribute to Nicolás González highlighted his legacy as director of the Banda Municipal, a position he occupied with dedication until his retirement; some of the musicians under his direction participated in special performances and revived works from his repertoire, as well as sharing anecdotes that reflect their impact on local culture.

At the same time, we celebrated the birth of Benny Moré, known as El Bárbaro del Ritmo and El Sonero Mayor, whose work is a pillar of Cuban music. Moré, master of the son montuno, la guaracha and el bolero, began his career with the Trio Matamoros in the 1940s and then formed the Banda Gigante, which became one of the most influential orchestras in Cuba in the 1950s.
The tribute included interpretations of its most emblematic themes, such as Bonito and Sabroso or Santa Isabel de las Lajas, by local artists, reinforcing the mission of the Casa de la Trova to integrate the legacy of historical figures with new creations.
The evening concluded with a musical release where tributes to both icons converged as a symbol of unity between the local legacy of González and the universal influence of Benny.
Events of this type, which already have precedents in tributes to artists such as Isabel Cepeda, reflect the active role of the institution in the cultural life of Florida, which is custodian of memory and catalyst of artistic innovation.
