Florida, August 11 – The Imagen Fonte International Estilo Hairdressing Project hosted a community outreach event in areas of District 18 of the Rolando Valdivia Popular Council of Florida.
From the Manuel Ascunce Domenech Elementary School campus, the project team served women in vulnerable situations with free haircuts, coloring, and beauty treatments. This initiative not only seeks to train future hairdressers through its international course, but also to improve the quality of life of low-income women in the communities, thus fulfilling a dual social purpose.
Present at the event were Liliana Boudet Nápoles, First Secretary of the Party in the territory, and Evelyn Márquez Álvarez, President of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power, along with representatives of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) of the aforementioned district. They highlighted the institutional support for the project, which has expanded from the provincial capital of Camagüey to municipalities such as Florida, providing opportunities for training and well-being.
The Manuel Ascunce Domenech Elementary School, the event’s venue, is one of the educational institutions open during the summer to host recreational and community activities. On this occasion, the space became a meeting point where the Imagen Fonte project transformed the beneficiaries’ physical appearance and strengthened their self-esteem and social ties.
Professor and stylist Armando Fonte, creator of a 100% Cuban method, has graduated more than 41,000 hairdressers in Cuba and abroad, consolidating his project as a benchmark in education and social inclusion.
The importance of this initiative lies in its comprehensive approach: it combines technical training with concrete actions for social impact. The hairdressing course, being held in Florida under Fonte’s direction, provides training in cutting-edge techniques and also promotes gender equality and the economic empowerment of vulnerable women.
Projects like this one, supported by local authorities and community leaders, demonstrate how beauty and education can become tools for social transformation.
