On June 3, 1928, Heriberto López Hernández was born in the bosom of a humble Floridian home, a fighter against the Batista tyranny from the ranks of the 26th of July Movement and member of the Rebel Army; he studied only up to the fifth grade, because then he began to work in the fields to help the family.
His rebellious character and combative spirit led him to confront the abuses and arbitrariness of the gendarmes; After the coup d’état of 1952 he joined the struggle, working clandestinely and after placing the 26th of July flag in Piedras de Zayas, he was arrested, taken to the barracks of the rural guard and a few days later released, without trial, and restarted again his revolutionary actions until he managed to join, at the end of 1958, the column that fought against the tyranny in the area of Cubitas.
On January 1, 1959 he took part in the occupation of the city of Camagüey and fought in the hospital under construction, where a group of henchmen had barricaded themselves; later he was transferred to Esmeralda, where he served as the barracks folder, until he was mortally wounded by two fugitives from the revolutionary justice.
