Florida, Dec. 17 – The delegates of the Assembly of People’s Power in Florida gathered at the Aurora Movie Theater to dedicate a solemn session of this body to the commemoration of the centenary of the constitution of the municipal council, on December 15, 1924.
This assembly session merged with an artistic gala to venerate Floridian history and culture, and it was also a special moment to recognize the trajectory of men and women who with commitment, professionalism and hard work have contributed to the social and economic development of this municipality from different sectors.
On this occasion, government leader Beatriz Rodríguez Fernández; welder Ángel Eugelles Mena; communicators Martha Martínez Duliet and José Díaz Hernández; writer Elena María Obregón Navarro; meteorologist Ibrianny Arredondo Arencibia; athlete Yarima García Díaz; artistic director Arnaldo Alfonso Rosales and educators Eleodoro Carvajal García and Marilín Becerra Fernández were decorated with the title of Illustrious Sons of the city of Florida.
Likewise, the award of Distinguished Sons of the Floridian city was given to artistic director Álvaro Yaxell Lescaille Thomas; to beekeeper Dagoberto Rosales Noy; to combatant Miguel Ángel Estrada Roque; to educator Carlos Enrique Zayas Bazán; to self-employed worker Tomás Marrero Acosta; to former football player Orestes Pérez Naranjo; to engineer Alberto Peláez Cervantes and political leaders José Antonio Ballate González and Elaine Gómez Cardoso.
In commemoration of the centenary of the constitution of Florida as a municipality, the People’s Power Assembly in the territory awarded the distinction of Adoptive Sons to engineer Ibraín Torres Piñeiro; former wrestler José Carmelo Ramos Cardoso; business leader José Luis Rodríguez González; beekeeper Gelania Tomasa Cabrera Morales; manager Norbelis Rodríguez Iglesias; clinician Jorge López Cepero; and radio broadcasters Nelson Wilmer Ricardo Sierra and Daniel Villasana Muguercia.
Meanwhile, the Replica of the Shield of the city of Florida was conferred to the groups of the Latin America Bookstore, the House of the Young Creator, the Rubén Martínez Villena Municipal Library, the Art Gallery, the José Luis Tassende de las Muñecas Special School, the Raw Materials Recovery Company, the Pequeños Son Music and Theater Company, the Abel Santa María Cuadrado Farmers’ Cooperative and the Floridian Beekeepers’ Shelter.
The solemn session of the Assembly of People’s Power on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of municipal independence paid tribute to the culture and history of this land.
