Florida, June 10 – The progress in the implementation of the programs of the National Plan for Food Sovereignty and Nutrition Education, known as Plan SAN, requires in Florida a greater intentionality, knowledge and work on the part of the managers and actors in charge of promoting its proposals and results in the current stage.

According to the authoritative opinion of Isabel Cristina Márquez Ulloa, a specialist of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment in the local government, the realization of this commitment of the Cuban State requires sharing the best experiences in the agricultural sphere, through forums and interactive plenary sessions with farmers and ranchers, evaluating the results and proposing short, medium and long term goals.
She added that in order to achieve the provisions of the plan, it is not enough to plant and produce on a larger scale; it is necessary to take greater advantage of science and innovation in all agri-food processes, access new technologies and available internal and external resources, in search of higher yields and adaptation to climate change.
Food Sovereignty and Nutritional Education for the more than 65 thousand inhabitants of the municipality of Florida also demands a close link with universities and agricultural science centers and the sugar sector, in search of projects, advice and support in the various tasks to be carried out.
