Cuba's Work on Human Rights Internationally Recognized Geneva, Dec 10 - Cuba marks today Human Rights Day with a wide international recognition due to its work in this sphere and its contributions to other peoples worldwide, the island's ambassador to Geneva, Anayansi Rodriguez, said today.


The Caribbean nation was elected in late 2013 for a new three-year period as a member of the Human Rights Council, a body founded in 2006 and comprises of 47 states.

This decision is an example of respect for the work of the Revolution, which guarantees the full dignity of each individual and has placed the principle of social justice to lead its programs and policies, Rodriguez told Prensa Latina.

The official recalled that, despite the blockade the United States has maintained for more than 50 years, Cuba also shares his modest advances and resources with other peoples of the world, especially in health and education.

The diplomatic stated that the election is also a result of the high prestige and her country's work in the multilateral organizations that analyze this issue, particularly the UN Council and the General Assembly.
