Cuba Declares Official and National Mourning Due to Mandela''s Death Havana, Dec 6 - Cuba decreed official mourning from 6:00 am on Dec. 6 to 12:00 pm on Dec. 7 and national mourning on Dec. 8, due to the death of former President of the Republic of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, an official note reports today.

 

During the official and national mourning, the Cuban flag will be hoisted at half-mast on public buildings and military establishments, says the note issued by the State Council that describes Mandela as a close friend.

During the term of national mourning, all public shows and festive activities will be suspended, states the note.
