Cultural Options Increased at Main Beach Resort in Cuba Varadero, Cuba, Dec 2 - The Belle Vue Palma Real hotel has launched a cultural tourism initiative that will allow clients to know Cuban rhythms and get dance and percussion lessons.

With this project, called Blue Bay Salsa Club, this hotel in Varadero, 140 km east of Havana, becomes the first theme hotel devoted to the country's music and dances.

The inauguration included performances by the company of renowned Cuban choreographer Santiago Alfonso with the show "From Cuba and the Caribbean", and singer Haila Mompie.

Juan Carlos Fernandez Friera, business manager of Spanish Blue Bay chain for the Caribbean, told Prensa Latina that plans like this one benefit his company, the Varadero tourist site and Cuba.

"It envisages theoretical and practical lessons for tourists, even whole families, in Cuban culture and history," he said.

Varadero, also known as Blue Beach, boasts 51 hotels, 70 percent of them in the four and five star categories, and receives one third of the total of visitors coming to Cuba.

At least one million foreign tourists are expected to have arrived in Varadero by mid December.
