Messi to Continue Rehabilitation in Argentina until January

Lionel MessiMadrid, Nov 29  -  Argentine soccer player Lionel Messi will continue his rehabilitation in his native country until January 2 and will receive the visit of Gerardo Martino, Barcelona's Club coach, the Spanish daily Sport released today.

 

"Everything is planned for the player to return to Barcelona on January 2, after spending Christmas and New Year with his family in Rosario and joins the group already thinking about the possibility of being discharged that same week" said the newspaper.

Messi will begin in Argentina the second phase of his recovery from a hamstring injury.

According to the newspaper, Messi could play a few minutes against the Elche in a Spanish League game scheduled for January 5, but it all depends on his recovery.

Sport also said that Martino and his assistant Jorge Pautasso, will take the opportunity of the Christmas holidays to visit Messi in the city of Rosario and personally check "his state to confront the many challenges ahead for the player in 2014."

The trainer Elvio Paulorroso, Pautasso and Martino will return to Barcelona later this month.
