Lazo receives President of the Russian Senate

Havana, Nov. 15.- The president of the National Assembly of the People's Power of Cuba and the Council of State, Esteban Lazo, will receive today the head of the Council of the Russian Federation (Senate), Valentina Matvienko.
The visitor from the Eurasian country arrived on the eve of the largest of the Antilles and was received at the José Martà International Airport by the vice president of the Caribbean legislative body, Ana MarÃa Mari Machado, reports Prensa Latina.
Matvienko will complete an intense work program, which includes participation in central activities on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the foundation of Havana.
The presidents of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security, and Constitutional Legislation and State Formation of that legislative body accompany the Russian Senate leader.
Also traveling with Matvienko is the first vice-president of the Committee of the State Duma of International Affairs, which in turn chairs the Russia-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group, among other important Russian legislators.
